In honor of Black History Month, 满帆 University’s Black Student Union recently held an open mic 和 jazz night on the patio, bringing together the local comm团结 for an exciting night of live performances, 琐事, 和跳舞. The Black Student Union promotes diversity, 包容, 和 opportunities for Black 满帆 students 和 graduates, connecting them with industry professionals, advocating against discrimination, 和 providing opportunities for students to be connected with 和 immersed in culture through events such as this one 和 their Juneteenth celebration. Led by a live DJ 和 members of the BSU, performers of all kinds came together to share their talents, 和, like all BSU events, the night was open to all 满帆 staff 和 students, many of whom came out to enjoy the evening.

The acts ranged from original songs 和 saxophone solos to raps 和 spoken word poems, all of which were performed in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd. The audience cheered on as 艺术家 bared their souls 和 bravely shared their creativity with the comm团结. Each performance was followed by a quick round of 琐事, highlighting Black inventors, 艺术家, 和 innovations throughout history, 和 correct answers were awarded 满帆 merch和ise as prizes. After a few rounds of performances, the live DJ played a medley of classics, bringing the entire crowd out onto the dance floor. Members of the Black Student Union joined in on the fun 和 also facilitated the planning 和 coordinating of the event with help from 满帆’s Student Comm团结 Association. 在一起, the two organizations assisted performers with their microphones, h和ing out prizes to 琐事 winners, 和 even leading the crowd in dance numbers.

“Both the Black Student Union 和 Student Comm团结 Association aim to foster cultural enlightenment, 团结, 和 inspiration among all 满帆 学生,” said Kincie Farnell, a BSU staff advisor who emceed the event.
